Where have you gone Jackie Robinson?

George Orwell’s warning in 1984 has never felt more relevant. The systematic erasure of historical figures and events under the Trump administration far surpasses Orwell’s dystopian vision, replacing objective truth with a revisionist history designed to consolidate power.
Take, for example, the quiet removal of a page honoring Jackie Robinson’s military service from the Department of Defense website. Robinson wasn’t just a baseball legend—he was a symbol of racial progress. The page was only restored after public outcry, but the intent was clear: erase the contributions of people of color from our national narrative.
This is not an isolated incident. Mentions of women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and marginalized communities have been scrubbed from federal websites. A NASA feature on Dominican-born intern Rose Ferreira vanished. The CDC purged references to LGBTQ+ health issues, defying a federal court order to restore them. Arlington National Cemetery, the Army, and the Navy have all erased educational materials about the role of women and minorities in military history.
Each deletion is a calculated move. By controlling history, Trump reshapes the present, mobilizing a base that clings to a whitewashed, male-dominated vision of America. His presidency lays the groundwork for an imperial rule, fueled by ignorance and exclusion.
Where have you gone, Jackie Robinson? Your story, and so many others, are being wiped from the record. And if history vanishes, so does the future we once fought for.
